7:50 am Life

Most of the home-around chores are finished, at least for the moment.

Today has an open feeling. What do I want to do?

  • Geocaching: I have a geocoin and a Travel Bug that I brought back from Australia. I will place one of them today and the other tomorrow. Both of these days need a find. I should have tried for one yesterday but it slipped my mind.
  • Photography: I will purchase the 400 mm  telephoto lens this morning
  • Birding: I will try the lens out at Henderson Lake
  • Fitness: today is the day for weights at the LFC
  • Life: I want to buy a rotisserie for the barbecue

9:30 am Geocaching

This was my first geocaching search since we left Australia. It felt good to be back in the coulees again, although the find turned out to be disappointingly easy. I dropped off a geocoin from Australia and picked up a TB.

10:30 am Photography

I then drove over to the camera shop and purchased the Canon EF 400mm f/5.6 USM telephoto lens. I then added a separate monopod mount (so I would be able to simply clip the lens on and off the monopod) and a UV filter (to protect the lens). I also added an extra 2-year maintenance warranty. This is the first expensive lens that I have bought and I want to feel confident at the outset that I am covered if anything goes wrong.

Now to find some birds.

11:30 am Literature

When I arrived home I found that the 2 books had arrived that I had ordered from amazon.ca :

  • The Hare with Amber Eyes (2010) by Edmund de Waal
  • The Unlikely Voyage of Jack de Crow (2002) by A. J. MacKinnon

That takes care of all the outstanding book orders.

7:40 PM Literature

Miller4I have finished reading "The Song of Achilles". Even though I knew the ending, I found the book quite enjoyable.
