May Geocaching

May 31, 2:00 PM  Geocaching - Kingston

I needed to find a geocache for today, so I loaded 3 sets of coordinates into my Garmin that would be close to where we were birding. I was having difficulty with my Garmin at the first one so abandoned the effort and focused on the birds. The next two caches were straight forward and I soon had 2 caches for the day.

I only missed one day in May where I needed a cache. Maybe next year I will complete the month.

May 28, 2:00 PM  Geocaching - Kingston

This was my first search since we arrived in Kingston. The find turned out to be an easy one, but I was embarrassed to not guess the connection between Celestial Dollars and Starbucks (which was near the cache).

May 18, 1:40 PM Geocaching

I needed a find for this date. This turned out to be another quick find. Good.

This was my 50th find for 2012. I now have a bit of a break. The next date that I need a find is May 28.

May 17, 11:50 am Geocaching

I needed a find for this date, so drove over to a geocache on the west side of Lethbridge. The drive was to a new subdivision which includes a branch library as well as a high school. The roads are finished but it is difficult to figure out where they go. Anyway I finally parked at the library and walked about 500 feet to the cache site where I made a quick find.

There are only 99 blank spots left on the grid of days for the year,  3 of which remain in May.

May 15, 9:00 am Geocaching

I needed a find for this date, so left early this morning for Pavan Park, with the idea of combining a little geocaching with some birding using my new telephoto lens. The find turned out to be straight forward. I left a TB in the container.

I have now found caches on 266 different dates, only 100 more dates and I will have the days of the year grid filled in.

May 13, 8:00 am Geocaching

I went for an early morning walk to look for this cache. It was fairly close to the route I take when doing my coulee walk.

This also filled in another square on my 366 day grid.

May 9, 10:00 am Geocaching

I made a quick trip over to a nearby cache on the west side of Lethbridge in order to exchange Travel Bugs (and finally moving a TB that I brought back from Australia). I also filled in another square for this date on a grid for all the days of the year.

This brings my 2012 totals to 46, and the number of unique days with at least one cache to 264. The next date that needs a find is May 13.

May 8, 9:30 am Geocaching

This was my first geocaching search since we left Australia. It felt good to be back in the coulees again, although the find turned out to be disappointingly easy. I dropped off a geocoin from Australia and picked up a TB.
