2:40 am Technology
It has been a month since I last used the Sandvox app to create pages in this web site. It is going to take a little time before I am comfortable with some of the commands. March 16 was the last date that I had created a page. I have been able to set up this page with everything you see above this line without much difficulty.
The next step is to synch the Pages file on my iPad with the files on my laptop so that I can use copy and paste to move text from those files to this web site.
Done. This took much longer than expected (about 1 hour). I first clicked on the Help option in the Pages window on my iPad. This was a good first step. But I then received an automatic message saying there were 4 updates to Apple software for my laptop (including iTunes, Java and Safari). This took about 40 minutes to complete. I then was able to continue the steps outlined in the Pages window on my iPad. I doubt that I will be able to remember all these steps but the important idea is to remember to click on the Help option for Pages.
I have now updated the March 16 web page by copying the entry for this date from the Pages file that is now on my laptop. It is a beginning.
The next step is to transfer all my photos from the ipad to my laptop. Once again, I am not sure how to do this. But since the iPad is already connected to my laptop, I will tap on the Photos icon on the iPad and hope to see something about syncing.
Done. This turned out to be ridiculously easy. A tap on the Settings icon on the iPad and then a tap on the Photos icon and a slide of the Photo Stream from OFF to ON and Photo Stream automatically uploaded all of the 2764 photos to iPhoto on my laptop. This took almost exactly 2 hours.
There is something magical about this entire process. It began with a Canon digital camera which took the actual picture and stored it on a tiny SD card. The card holds 970 images at high resolution. Every few days I would download the images from the camera to the iPad by simply connecting the camera to the iPad. Then when I was back in Lethbridge and had access to my laptop the entire process was repeated and the 2764 images are now in my iPhoto files.
There is still a lot of work to be done with the photos. I need to review them and discard the numerous efforts at capturing the image of a bird for identification purposes. I also want to add keywords to many of the photos so I can view various subsets at a glance.
7:00 am I have now added pages for March 17 - 19 to this website.
7:20 am Life
My weight was not as bad as I had feared, but I really need to work on losing about 10 pounds and firming up a few abdominal muscles (it is clear I only have a few of these). This is definitely my top priority for the next month.
I have entered my weight and what I have had for breakfast (2 coffee, 1 slice whole grain bread with peanut butter) into an app called "myfitnesspal" on my iPad. I plan to begin my coulee walks later today.
6:00 PM I am still having difficulties with my body rhythms. I slept from about 10 am until 2 PM. After that I managed to force myself to take a coulee walk. And I have kept a complete record of my eating on MyFitnessPal. But I feel slightly spaced out when I am awake. Definitely it is more difficult to adjust after the return trip than it is on the trip out.
