It is raining hard this morning. Not great for outdoor activities such as geocaching or camping or coulee walks. We have plans to do some cooking today and make a batch of bigos and another of chili. That should give us some quick meals when we are short of time. Even with the cold, wet, weather there is no excuse for not going to the fitness center for a workout. And I am now in need of a good book to read. I think I will return to "The Quincunx" for fiction and "The Use and and Abuse of Literature" for non-fiction.

Much of the day continues to be spent between yard duties and fitness. The yard is now looking great. I am maintaining my fitness routine and continue to feel that it is making a difference.
I am still hoping that we can find time to do some camping with the 5th wheel this summer.

I am feeling sharp this morning.
This means that I am ready to tackle the mystery novel "The Quincunx" as soon as I finish this entry. But first a few comments.
There is a technician arriving this morning to upgrade our modem in order to take advantage of higher Internet connection speeds. Once this is done I plan to visit a store downtown and see about receiving 2 new iPhones as part of our switch from to a new provider. I was expecting them to arrive yesterday but have yet to hear back from the new supplier. I was also expecting to receive an email outlining the terms of our contract, but this has yet to appear as well. Mildly frustrating, but not totally unexpected.

I am back from a workout at the Lethbridge Fitness Center. Hopefully I can get this into a regular routine again. I am a bit sore and stiff at the moment.

The lawn is (relatively) weed free and mowed. Whew!
June 12, 6:40 am Life
My top priority at the moment is to rid the front lawn of weeds, notably one called Creeping Charlie, that has over-run the lawn in a number of places. Once that is finished I can mow the lawn. I would like to complete this today.
I have identified an RV campground in the Crowsnest Pass area (actually in Sparwood, which is just inside the BC border). I want to drive out and have a look, and if it is okay, to make a reservation for later this month. Hopefully I can do this in the next few days. If I make the reservation, then I will need to get the 5th wheel out of storage.
The new MacBook Pro was announced yesterday and I am impressed. I also see that delivery times for the unit with the retinal display are 2-3 weeks. I will wait at least a week to see if there are any rumors about the unit, but I have reviewed the specifications and options and am ready to place an order.
And then comes fitness. I will try to fit in a session at the Fitness Center later this afternoon, but the weeding and lawn mowing comes first.
June 11, 4:00 PM Life
Well, I didn't make it to the Fitness Center and I didn't search for a geocache.
Much of the morning was spent buying groceries.
I then made a quick trip over town to discuss a few questions with the people at iWorld about purchasing a new MacBook Pro (details of the new computer were being released as I was in the store). The store does provide educational discounts and I am eligible. They also provide a migration and set up service. All this is good.
I also bought some waterproofing for my hiking boots (at another store).
Back home, I applied the waterproofing and then decided that it was more important to pull weeds from our front lawn than to go to the fitness center. I think this was a good choice as the weeds need to be pulled before I mow the lawn. I am now about half finished with this chore.
June 11, 6:00 am Life
My top priority today is to continue with my fitness routine at the Lethbridge Fitness Center.
I will also try to find a local geocache. I need one for today in order to fill in another blank in my grid. The recent rains will make most ground muddy and very slippery. The underbrush and tall grass is wet making any off-trail walking a very damp venture. Fortunately there are a few urban caches that may make the search relatively dry.
Grocery shopping is also a high priority.
I bought a pair of leather hiking boots while in Calgary. These need to be waterproofed.
My PC should be started up and the necessary updates installed.
I need to check with the iWorld store in Lethbridge about Educational discounts. The online Apple store also provides a migration and setup service. Does iWorld also provide this?

Home. We left Calgary in the rain and remained in the rain for the entire drive to Lethbridge. And the temperature remained at +9 C. There was a strong wind as well. Not a pleasant day for outdoor activities.
June 9, 5:00 PM Life - Calgary
Today was very relaxing. We did a little shopping for perennial plants for our raised gardens in Lethbridge, did some visiting, had lunch in a new restaurant in one of the shopping areas and visited a Costco in Calgary for the first time.

Now to spend a few minutes collecting my thoughts.
We spent much of our time while in Kingston walking trails and looking for birds. This was the first time when we observed birding by sound and were very impressed. It makes a huge difference when you can identify a bird in the trees and can then decide whether you want to spend additional time trying to observe it. I want to spend more time reading about birds and noticing where birds are being spotted in southern Alberta.
I am eager to drive to the Crowsnest Pass and check a few campgrounds to see if I should arrange to take the 5th wheel out of storage. The Web is amazingly poor for finding information on campgrounds in southern Alberta.

A very special thank you to Larry & Mary Ann. We had a wonderful time during our entire stay.
Today was a travel day. We were driven to Ottawa in the morning to catch the flight to Calgary. This time our booking did not involve a Toronto stop-over. The direct flight to Calgary took about 4 and a half hours.
Pizza and wine was waiting for us and we settled into a nice evening get together.

I spent much of today playing a new game (for me) called Crystal Tower. I love it. It reminds me a little of Tetris, a game I played over a decade ago. Basically it is a puzzle with 60 different configurations of red and blue blocks. Each configuration has 3 levels of achievement. The goal for each configuration is to remove all of the blue blocks and leave all of the red blocks. I have managed to reach the basic level for all 60 configurations but there are still 8 puzzles where I have yet to complete the challenge at the highest level.
Here is the configuration for level 60
We had a truly fabulous dinner this evening. Unfortunately I left my camera in the car and was not able to take any photos.
