A. Morning Musings

Early morning. I am undecided about my activities for today. There is some freezing rain at the moment which may mean a change in plans for this morning. This may not be a good time to be out on the roads.

I think I will begin by making a few notes to myself about DCC and model trains.

B. Actual Learning Activities

4:00 PM

I made my regular visit to Greenwood's Bookstore this morning. Here are the titles to the four books I bought, listed in the order that I spotted them:

• "Stat-spotting: A Field Guide to Identifying Dubious Data". (2008) Joel Best.
  • This looks like a useful read, even though I no longer do this.
• "Geological Wondeers in Alberta". (1998) Ron Mussieux & Marilyn Nelson.
  • This will fit in nicely with my new interest in geocaching.
• "Morning Light: Triumph at Sea & Tragedy on Everest". (2008) Margaret Griffiths.
  • This looks like a fascinating one-of-a-kind book. It is written by an 88-year old woman as her first venture into writing.
• "Big Bear". (2008) Rudy Wiebe.
  • This is one of the first of a new series of books on "extraordinary Canadians", written by Canadian authorities, and overseen by John Ralston Saul.
• "Three Day Road". (2005). Joseph Boyden.
  • This is Boyden's first novel. Having loved his second, I was looking for this one.

I am pleased with my reading of DCC. I made some notes for one of my publications on the topic and now have a much better sense of what I am doing and what needs to be done next.

I have also confirmed the purchase of "Constructed in Kingston", a book I have been trying to find for the last few months.
