A. Morning Musings

I will head downstairs in a few minutes to attach Kadee couplers to all four cylindrical hopper cars. I will also atttach trucks to two of the cars making them fully operational. I hope to purchase two more sets of trucks for the other two cars later this week. I then need to think about what I should do next with my model train activities.

I hope to finish reading "A Fair Country" today.

A Fair Country

John Ralston Saul

This is a superb book about Canadian history and our colonial heritage. The book is bound to be contoversial - it is certainly thought provoking. Saul has a special gift for striking metaphors which are laced throughout the book.

"It is rare in the world that herds of deer obligingly gather on highways at night in the hope of being hit. And then thank you for knocking them down." [p. 210] (with respect to foreign ownership of Canadian companies)

I would like to see this book discussed by a wide cross-section of Canadian professionals as well as by First Nations and Inuit as well as by teachers, professors, immigrants and people of French and British ancestry. A conversation would be a valuable next step.

I would rate this book as 5 out of 5.
