A. Morning Musings

The geocaching has been great this week. Now to pull back on that activity a little and return to assembling my four cylindrical hopper cars.

Today will also be a day for chores. I need to nail down some of the retaining 6x6 boards along our back yard garden. Also it is time for taking recycling to the bins. Plus some shopping for essentials.

But I will spend an hour before it gets light, setting up a Planning Sheet for my next geocache trip in west Lethbridge.

B. Actual Learning Activities

3:20 PM

I have just finished cleaning the muck off my boots after another hike in the coulees. This time I was after GCJ1HP - Cracking Couless Cache which is about a km downstream from the Hwy 3 bridge across the Oldman river. I still have 7 caches left to find in west Lethbridge. One of these is a night-only cache (neat) but requires a GPS unit that gives the direction and length of a journey. I might be able to do this using waypoints with my unit but will have to practice first. The other 6 are all micro caches (4 are little green things in trees) and one may have been muggled. All are in small local parks within walking distance of home. I have been avoiding these but that is all that is left, so I will have to give this a serious try - one small cache at a time.

Here is the report for today's trip:

That is #60. I have had a spurt of activity this week. Now to slow down and focus on other activities. I may try for a couple of the little green things, but only one try a day. I failed to find any of them on my first attempt a few weeks ago.

10:30 PM

While going through a few flyers just before dinner we happened to notice that Bob Dylan was on at the Enmax this evening. A quick phone call and I had a seat. Fantastic. I never dreamed that I would have an opportunity to see him perform in person. As is often the case, I was surprised. It was a non-stop two hour performance of high intensity, high volume, modern rock. There were a couple of his old classics (e.g. A Hard Rain's Gonna Fall) but it was redone in a very modern way. The music was great, but it was impossible to hear the lyrics. Everyone seemed to be having a good time. I loved it. He really did put on a show. Not bad for an oldie. But it was not a trip down memory lane.
