I thought I had woken up at 5:10 but forgot that today the clocks "spring forward".
I plan to work on updating my geocaching web site today. Now that I have my birding database up-to-date, including the 3 birds I saw yesterday while hiking in the Pole Haven cattle reserve, there is incentive to get my other set of outdoor records fixed up as well.
Yesterday's hike was beneficial for many reasons, including the good work-out. I now have a good sense of snow (and ice) conditions in the foothills. Roads are good although the gravel roads are beginning to soften as the ground thaws. Skiing is now finished for the season as the trails are far too icy and hard for enjoyable conditions. Walking is also a poor option for at least a month. And when I go out I want to take my larger Canon Rebel T2i camera mounted on my monopod. This will give me a better advantage if I happen to see some birds. The trip also helped reinforce my priorities which primarily are to simply be out and enjoying the moment. Any geocaches that are found are a bonus, the goal is exercise and learning to take better photographs of scenery, birds, and wild flowers.
