We are back from a 3 hour walk into the coulee. The intent was to see what birds might be about this early in the year. We were less than a block from home when we saw 4 Robins (the first Robins of the year!). Amazing. The ground is still frozen - I wonder what they eat?
But after that promising start we saw few birds after that. A Crow, a Magpie, a few Canada Geese, a Northern Flicker (woodpecker), and a Downy Woodpecker. On the plus side of the ledger, we did see 2 porcupines.
