A. Morning Musings

Model Trains: I want to do some serious reading about Ship It! this morning. My goal, which may not be achievable, is to get a locomotive to take an empty hopper from Jasper to Black Diamond, load it with coal, and return to the Jasper Coaling Tower. I also want to do more reading about DCC, in particular Loksound decoders. I want to learn how to determine the stall speed of my locomotives. Finally, I want to finish assembling two cylindrical hopper cars.

I need to figure out how to get a printer working while using Windows xp.

Today promises to be very busy. I also hope to make a batch of pea soup.

B. Actual Learning Activities

6:30 am

Another good beginning. I found and loaded a Windows xp driver for the Canon i850 last evening. This morning I tried a few options and then, using the analogy of the steps to get the Intenet connection, tried the same sequence (i.e. Devices -> USB -> i850) and everything worked perfectly. The printer works seamlessly with both Word and Ship It!. Great.

4:00 PM

The split-pea soup is almost ready. It smells delicious.

The temperature day barely reached +5 C. It seemed a good day to have our first fire in the fireplace for the winter season. I added a splash of fine scotch whiskey (single malt, of course). Actually, two splashes.

There is more to life than model trains.
