I have an early coffee scheduled for the Ugly Mug at 7 am.
The primary activity today will be to apply the first coat of finish to the patio table.
There are a few other tasks that are dependent upon the shops being open today, which is a holiday for many. I will need to visit a paint store to buy the finish for the final two coats. I also want to buy some floor mats for the camry and am looking for the latest issue of a model train magazine that will show how to model HO scale switch machines.

The day began with disappointing news and ended with a grapple with technology.
Our favorite coffee shop will be closing at the end of this week. The Ugly Mug has been a favorite early morning stop for the last couple of years.
I was able to buy floor mats for the camry, but the paint store and the hobby store were both closed for the long weekend.
Much of the day was spent doing little chores around the yard: mowing the lawn, pruning the flowers, cleaning the patio stones, cleaning the bugs off the 2009 camry.
Then in the late afternoon I did my first, for 2008, "two loop" hike into the coulee. This is a sure fire way to lose weight. I am feeling that I am in fairly good shape.
After dinner I spent a few minutes on the computer when I noticed that there was a major update for Windows xp (something called Service Pack 3). This basically proceeded okay but there was a delay while my computer compressed some files to make enough room for the update. Overall the process took about 3 hours.
