Department Facilities
The Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry at the University of Lethbridge is located in the cutting edge $300,000,000 Science Commons (opened in 2019) and features excellent access to modern analytical techniques. Instrumentation includes:
NMR Spectroscopy
- 700 MHz Bruker Avance III narrow bore (ultrashield), with four channels (HFXY) and multinuclear (auto-tuning) and variable temperature capabilities. Includes autosampler and 1.3 mm MAS ultrafast probe.
 - 500 MHz Brukerwith solution and solid state, as well as multinuclear and variable temperature capabilities
 - 300 MHz Bruker Avance II (ultrashield) with multinuclear (auto-tuning) and variable temperature capabilities
 
EPR Spectroscopy
- Bruker EMX Plus EPR Spectrometer with X-band and 4K data collection capabilities
 
X-ray Crystallography
- Rigaku-Oxford SuperNova Duo/Pilatus 200K X-ray Diffractometer
 
MBraun Solvent Purification System
- Dry, oxygen free solvents available at the turn of a knob
 - Eliminates the need for dangerous (and time consuming) stills
 - 8 solvents (pentane, heptane, benzene, toluene, acetonitrile, methylene chloride, diethyl ether and THF)

 
Infrared & Raman Spectrometry
- Bruker Tensor 37 FT Infrared Spectrometer

 - Bruker Vertex 70 FT Infrared Spectrometer (equipped with Ram II FT Raman Module)

 - Bruker Alpha FT Infrared Spectometer (can directly analyze solids or liquids without sample preparation)
