B. Actual Learning Activities

8:25 am

Model Trains: I have sent an email to MRC asking for information on an upgrade to their Prodigy wireless system. Hopefully I will receive a reply within a few days.

10:40 am

I have now completed 82% of my birding records. Each day I hope to update a few, but then move on to other activities.

2:30 PM

I created a test situation for determining that I had the correct wiring for my turntable. I then ran a locomotive onto the turntable, manually rotated the turntable, ran the locomotive onto a short section of track and then turned the power off on that section. Perfect.

I combined a trip to the model train store (where I bought a second controller module for wiring my turntable) with a search for a new geocache in the coulee. Both activities were successful.

I now the necessary component for completing the turntable wiring.

I found the cache GC2QQCD - Camo Cache.

I then returned to the cache area (with my camera, which I forgot to take with me when geocaching) to take a few photos and do a little birding. I did see a Black-capped Chickadee and a Northern Flicker but was unable to positively identify some bird in a tree (I think they were Purple Finches, but am not positive). I also saw a Prairie Falcon go by. I am getting better at identifying raptors: this one was small, light underneath, fast, and sharply pointed "wrists".
