Brrr. Another cool day with a fresh sprinkling of snow overnight. A little shovelling will be in order later today.
The timing is good for playing catch-up with my birding database. I will remain indoors for much of the day.
I have selected my next book, "DECODED" by Jay-Z. There is a brief story behind this book. I noticed it on the amazon.ca website while I was ordering a few books on early sufi/Persian poetry. The website allowed me to read the first few pages of the book and I was immediately struck with the impression that this book on rap music (of which I am almost totally ignorant) was in many ways similar to the 11th and 12th century Sufi poetry. Now to find out if my initial impression was close to the mark.
The cover of the book is an Andy Warhol print called Rorschach. The inside front cover flap says, "DECODED is a book like no other: a collection of lyrics and their meanings that together tell the story of a culture, an art form, a moment in history, and one of the most provocative and successful artists of our time."
This promises to be an adventure.
