B. Actual Learning Activities

Mmm. That first sip of morning coffee tastes so good.

10:00 am

Work on the birding database is progressing nicely. My focus this morning has been on my Alberta records.

And it is now snowing, again.

9:15 PM

The driveway is shoveled, the coffee at Tims was excellent, and the birding database is now complete to 2009.01.06. I am just beginning updating the Panama activities. My totals at the moment are now:

• Global - 425
• Canada - 156
• Alberta - 145
• USA - 25
• Australia - 195
• Mexico - 81.

The database work is tedious but rewarding. There is satisfaction in developing an accurate set of records (accurate in the sense of reflecting the existing data, but there were many occasions when I simply failed to make note of a bird that I had seen (but not for any "lifer"!).

10:30 PM

I sat in my favorite chair, sipped a late night coffee, and took a magic carpet to the 12th century while reading "The Conference of the Birds".
