A. Morning Musings

I must have been really tired last night. I slept in until 8 this morning.

I am eager to work on the patio furniture, but it is Sunday and I don't want to make any noise until noon. I have glued two slats onto the tete-a-tete but most of the slats could use a quick, but noisy, sanding. Similar noise problems occur with drilling holes for the screws to attach the backing slats and the table slats.

But I can begin the second coat of finish on the three chairs, and the first coat on the fourth chair. That should keep me busy until noon.

When I have finished working on the pationfurniture I have been too tired to enjoy reading, but the Hashi puzzles have been a great way to relax. I have now completed 180 of them and have only 22 left. I have really enjoyed them. One must be systematic and logical in order to solve them.

But first a nice cup of coffee while listening to the water fountain. I do not consider the burbling sound to be noise.

B. Actual Learning Activities

1:00 PM

The three chairs have all had a complete second coat and one chair has had its first coat.

4:00 PM

The tete-a-tete has both seat backs assembled and the overall structure is completely assembled. All of the slats are sanded and all that remains is for four more slats to be glued. I plan to complete this at 6 this evening. But, as with yesterday, by the late afternoon I am exhausted. Too much of this activity is in the sun, which today hit 33 C, our hottest day this summer. Still it is a nice feeling to realize that all that remains is to apply the finish.

6:00 PM

Here are two photos of the stuff in the garage. The last four slats for the tete-a-tete are glued and clamped. All four chairs have a coat of finish on them. The backs for the chairs are leaning against the wall.
