A. Morning Musings

The forecast for today is +20 C. Summertime! There are still a couple of small snow patches on the lawn but they will not last much longer. Now to think seriously about a new lawn mower.

My 4-day weight-loss program is already showing results. It is nice to begin on a positive note, but there is still a long way to go, and when I reach my goal I must learn to stay there.

Sleeping is still a problem. I finally nodded off at 2 am. This included an hour of "Paradise Lost". But then I stayed asleep until 8 am so I am encouraged. I will do my best to not have an afternoon nap today.

B. Actual Learning Activities

8:00 PM

A good day for chores. We bought two rain barrels and an electric lawnmower. One of the stores had a deal where they would take your old gas powered lawnmower and dispose of it and then give you a $50 discount on the purchase of a new manual or electric mower. The telling argument was "A standard gas mower can emit the same amount of common air pollutants in one hour as driving a new car for over 550 kms!". The rain barrel turned out to be more of a problem as I had to relay a number of patio stones to provide a level base for the barrel. But the job is now finished. I also filled the propane tank for the barbeque, in the event that we have summer this year.

I have just finished reading chapter 4 of "Paradise Lost". I am thoroughly enjoying it! After Proust, Milton is a delight.
