A. Morning Musings

I am still revelling in the peace of mind that comes when one solves a tech problem. However it never really ends. My hard drive is almost full. The solution will be to move most of my iPhoto files over to an external hard drive. I used a nice piece of software called iPhoto Library Manager in early February but am having difficulty with it at the moment. I also need to find out more about Time Machine and how to use it to recover files.

I think it is time to begin using my fountain pen. Now if I can just remember how to unscrew the cap on it.

Yesterday was a day in front of the screen. Today will not be the same. There are some household and yard chores that need attention. It will be a nice break.

I have my iPod on this morning. I am amazed at how seldom I think of it. I am listening to an Andre Previn LP that I converted to MP3 - very nice. Not only the music but the memories of listening to it almost 40 years ago. And the cup of coffee tastes good this morning as well.

B. Actual Learning Activities

2:00 PM

So much for my idea of reducing the amount of time I spend on Technology. I have now purchased a second 1 TB hard drive which I plan to use to hold a bootable copy of my hard drive as well as iPhoto files. The first task was to reformat and partition the drive. I have decided on 4 equal partitions of 232 GB each, a GUID partition table, Mac OS Extended (Journaled) format. That has now been done, but it took 2 trys. The first time I had a file open and it wouldn't "unmount" the drive 9 but didn't indicate why not. It took awhile to figure that out and then try again. This time it worked. The next step is to move some of my iPhoto libraries to one of these partitions. My hard drive is almost full. and moving a thousand photos off it is a good way to free up some space.
