A. Morning Musings

6:30 am The temperature is +13 C with a high forecast of +14. 60% chance of showers.

My list of immediate tasks around the house is a little shorter:

  • visit local landscaping store about patio bricks and sand
  • visit cement expert about parging the front cement foundation
  • replace washer in front hose faucet
  • review condition of 5th wheel before taking it in (needs 4 new tires)
  • cut notch in back door for hose

We have a little more work to do this morning as we finish adding cement to the corner of the foundation, but that should only take a few minutes. Then we need to add sand to prepare the sidewalk area for the patio bricks and then we put the bricks down and the job is complete.

There are two additional tasks that shouldn't take too long: fixing a leaking faucet and cutting a notch in a door for an extension chord to pass through.

We also want to make a pass through our house and see if there is some "stuff" that we can get rid of.

Then I may begin to focus on my model trains.... The next steps here are to review the layout for the turnouts and see if I want to install some of them with the controller under the table. Then wire the lower mainline track for a power block using 18 guage wire and feeder connectors. This will involve attaching the track to the table (glue and/or small nails). This must be done very carefully to minimize derailments later.

B. Plan

Chores Complete pouring of cement along corner 1 hr
Take 5th wheel in for maintenance
Health Walk & exercise 1 hr
Literature Continue reading "A Dream of Eagles: The Skystone" 1 hr
History Continue reading "Citizens" 1 hr
Technology Read manual for cell phone 1 hr
    5 hrs

C. Actual/Notes

9:30 am I have finished reading "The Skystone", Book 1 of the series "A Dream of Eagles". The second book is called "The Singing Sword".

8:45 PM Since it was raining all day I spent much of the day organizing my tools and supplies while moving them from the basement to the garage. While doing this I found some rubber washers and fixed the leaking hose faucet in the garage. I also took the rear garage door off and cut a notch in the bottom so I could close the door while leaving the extension chord attached to the fountain in the patio. Three small jobs but all three removed long standing annoyances.

I also visited the local landscape company and viewed a number of different options for the patio stones. If the rain holds off tomorrow I will try to prepare the ground for the sand and the patio stones.
