Birds: visit to Flat Rock beach
12:50 PM Bird watching is like poker. We went to Flat Rock, but there was a strong southerly and the few birds on the rocks were hunckered down. After a pleasant cappuccino at the Pelican, we returned to Alison's and were just getting settled in when we noticed a Wonga Pigeon (lifer # 145) on the grass in the back yard.
We also noticed a couple of White-throated Treecreepers, a Yellow Eastern Robin, a Red-browed Finch, and a Grey Fantail - all in the space of just a few minutes.
Now to spend a few minutes to see if I can figure out how to use Stylus Studio to take an XML data file and create the corresponding XHTML file.
3:00 PM A very pleasant couple of hours drinking wine and watching birds. We haved added another lifer to our list: the Leaden Flycatcher (female) (lifer # 146). This was very difficult to distinquish in the field guides from the Satin Flycatcher, but we opted for the "pale orange-buff" breast, rather than "Medium orange-buff".
About 5 PM there was a brief period of activity when an Emerald Dove and a Brown Cuckoo-Dove arrived at the same time at the bird bath. Less than 5 minutes later 2 Wonga Pigeons arrived and walked about the yard for about 10 minutes.
