I have carried out two types of maintenance this morning. One involved the track layout, the other involved upgrading various features of 3 boxcars to make them operational. I then updated both my Filemaker Pro and Ship It! databases to reflect these changes.
As a result of yesterday's running session I realized that I needed a pair of uncoupling magnets on two of the passing sidings: the one in Queenston and the one at Prairie Dog. These have now been installed. I also added some foam roadbed on the mainline at Coaldale to fill in the gaps where I once had a pair of uncoupling magnets. One should never have these magnets on the mainline track. I then cleaned the track in the Black Diamond Yard with a Bright Boy eraser. Every little change helps.
I replaced the wheels on CN 500899 and CN 493528 with Kadee 28" (#524 freight car) wheels. Both boxcars now run very smoothly on a 2% slope.
I have completed the running session for Train #500 Extra. See the Running Sessions for a complete description. There were no difficulties with this session.
