Daley Train Log

I am back from a very useful SAMRC meeting. I now have a clear idea of what I should do to create a retaining wall around my layout to prevent any derailments from landing on the floor. Clear plastic is the answer! I am also beginning to have a better sense of how I want to set up some control panels to handle my switches on the layout. I also learned a neat trick to determine if a lashup of a number of locomotives has all the locomotives going in the same direction.
It has taken a couple of hours to complete my report from today's running session. Overall it was a lot of fun. This including running the longest train (7 cars plus a caboose) that I have had so far. Almost all of the switching involved the use of magnets and the logic of the operation was a delight.
The big mistake was when I realized, while writing up the report, that I had failed to setout a boxcar at Pine Ridge and to make matters worse, picked up a boxcar that should have been left there. I need to be very, very careful when reading the switchlist!
