Wednesday November 26, 2008 Lethbridge, Alberta

5:10 am

It is early morning and I am trying to set up a list of tasks for today.

6:30 am

I have scanned the switchlist and placed it on the Nov 24 and Nov 25 running session web pages. Here are the scanning settings for future reference: 8-bit grayscale, 300 dpi, Unsharp mask selected - high. Export from iPhoto to Dreamweaver as png, width 700.

I have modified the Ship It! train records to include departure times and have altered the maintenance schedule to include an item for cleaning the wheels. This is necessary as they tend to accumulate a lot of crud after a few runs.

12:30 PM

I have added records for all of my freight rolling stock for my primary layout. This is a total of 27 cars consisting of 9 boxcars, 7 tank cars, 3 hopper cars, 2 reefers, 2 stock cars, 1 flat car, 1 gondola, 1 special (automobile) boxcar and 1 baggage express car. That takes care of the background effort for setting up the Ship It! data base. I still need to add more records for the various industries.

3:30 PM

All of the track on the peninula has been cleaned.

I have completed the last set of activities for running Train #500 from Coaldale to Jasper. This involved travelling from Black Diamond to Jasper and setting out 2 loaded hoppers at the Jasper Coaling Tower.

7:00 PM

I have finished cleaning the track with the Bright Boy cleaning eraser. I also noticed the cause of the problem with the 5-axle C-liner diesel shorting on a switch in the peninsula mainline. As usually seems to be the case the problem was elsewhere - in this case a poor connection between two sections of track about 4 sections before the switch. The locomotive now seems to go over the switch without difficulty.
