While searching through my iPod for an album containing some Persian music (all I could remember was that a couple of the pieces had the phrase "Book of Kings" (an early Persian classic) in it. I found it under the heading World. The artist's name is Zaza. But right beside it in the list were a few selections by the Japanese group Tone featuring music using two traditional instruments, the koto and the shakuhachi. This is a group we listened to while in Sapporo.
I am listening to Tone at the moment. Peaceful. The iTunes store is amazing. I was quickly able to find a collection of Japanese albums (including some pieces by Tone). The album "Journey to the East Koto" sounds interesting ...
Now to select a book for reading. I have picked two. One is "The Illuminated Rumi" by Coleman Barks and Michael Green, which arrived yesterday. Then for a change of pace I am going to begin "Dead Souls" by Nikolai Gogol.
Restful music, good literature, and fresh coffee. Life is good.
Model Trains: I also plan to print out a new set of sessions from Ship It!, and to then begin an operating session.
