While rereading chapter 9 of the Ship It! Manual which describes the settings for describing trains I noticed the following:
"Do Not Generate Moves. Check this box if you do not want any car movements generated for a particular train. ... This is handy if you want to run passenger trains." [p. 9-4]
I had not noticed this option in my earlier set ups. I have now checked this box for both my passenger train as well as for my unit coal train.
