I have carefully read chapter 3, Genesis of a Main Line, from G. R. Stevens' "Canadian National Railways, vol 1, Sixty years of trial and error. 1836 - 1896" and have added some entries to the table of important dates on my CNR History web page.
I have spent about 2 hours working on a couple of niggling derail problems near the Duck-Under. I finally noticed that one of the track joiners was improperly installed. In the process of trying various solutions I added some weight to the final passenger car which did seem to improve its tracking characteristics. At the moment I think I have everything working.
