B. Actual Learning Activities

7:10 am

I am almost finished "Moments in Between". Here is a quote that I liked:

This is a paraphrase of one of my own sayings, "Gravity wins." Maybe that is why I like it.

Here is another saying from the book that I like:

I have finished this book. Now for a few notes.

Moments in Between

David Kundtz

I really enjoyed this book. In many ways it was an aesthetic experience. The layout of each page was one of the best examples I have seen of design in action. Similarly the table of contents, and again, the actual pattern of the entire book. Overall, as you would expect, looking at the cover, it is a warm book. The use of photographs and color is excellent.

Each page consists of 3 distinct components: a saying, a prompt or question, and a narrative commentary. The commentary elaborates on both the saying as well as the prompt. And often there is a full page photo that has some subtle relation to what is being said. All of the photos are of nature. It is a lovely counter-point to the words and sayings, which are all man-made. Nature would continue even if we were to disappear.

I would rate this book as 5 out of 5, recognizing that such books do not "work" for everyone. But it worked for me.

9:40 PM

We made another trip to put some stuff in the 5th wheel and did some visiting. Overall it has been a very productive and full 3 days. The barbeque for dinner with a couple of lime beers was a perfect way to end the trip.

Tomorrow we will pick up the 5th wheel and head back to Lethbridge.
