A morning without musings is a worry. The morning will be spent on activities related to the garage sale tomorrow. Then I have a coffee scheduled for Mojos Pub & Grill at 3 PM.

I have spent the last two hours combining my reading of "Ahtahkakoop" with a second book, "Atlas of Saskatchewan" (1999) Ka-iu Fung (Editor), which is one of the best examples of cartography and data displays that I have seen. I now have a much clearer sense of where the main rivers (North & South Saskatchewan, Athabasca, Churchill, Nelson, Qu' Appelle, Red Deer) run through the prairie provinces (Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba) and where the important early fur trading settlements were located (York Factory, Fort Garry, Cumberland House, Fort Carlton, Fort Pitt, Fort Walsh, Fort Macleod).
Einstein's concept of space-time is essential to an understanding of the early history (aboriginal as well as early European settlement) of any region. One needs an appreciation of the land and weather as well as the distances and modes of travel in order to appreciate the details of the noteworthy events and people. The "Atlas of Saskatchewan" provides an excellent perspective on all of these issues.
I bought both the Atlas of Saskatchewan and Ahtahkakoop while visiting Regina a few years ago. Both books are stunningly good. It is a joy to immerse myself in them now.
