B. Actual Learning Activities

9:00 am

I have made a few hand-written notes on the first chapter of Stevens. The variety of designs that he uses to illustrate the different types of patterns is incredible. This is a very beautiful book.

6:00 PM

I have solved the problems for the bulletin board that I am rebuilding for the genealogical society. One problem was to find a "soft" backing for the cork board surface so the tacks would go through the cork and into the backing without too much difficulty. It turns out there is a plastic sheet that is about 1/8" thick and comes in 4' x 8' sheets that is perfect. Done. The second problem was how to attach both the plastic/cork and the masonite hard surface to the frame. In both cases it is possible to nail the undercover to the frame and then I can glue the outersurfaces to this. The masonite side has been completed and I will complete the cork surface tomorrow. Finally, I have purchased some pine framing to make a frame around the edges and have bought some dark brown paint to finish the job.
