A. Morning Musings

Today will be one more devoted to cleaning up a number of loose ends around the house. I have a collection of books and articles on the climatology of the arctic that are from Unk's estate which I will be giving to the university Geography department. There is some recycling stuff to get rid of as well. I have a very nice watercolor of the university by a fellow professor, Dr. Hiroshi Shimazaki, that I will hang in our dining room.

I would like to organize my professional reports and articles on Technology. I at least have them all in one spot now, so this should only take a couple of hours. I expect that I will be able to discard much of this as the field moves quickly and many of the articles will be dated. I only need to keep the real classics, plus most of the Logo and APL documents. I consider these to be two of the most important developments in the last 50 years, and am still disappointed that the educational systems failed to incorporate them into the curriculum.

Today I will switch from digitizing slides to digitizing a few of my own documents.

I do not consider any of these activities to be "Learning" activities. But every now and then they need to be attended to. At least I am getting them all organized so that I can whittle away on them.

Shimizaki's painting has reminded me of my ongoing desire to get involved in some form of drawing for myself. And organizing my loose papers and articles has motivated me to take another look at my books and see if I can't get rid of a few more. I still have many more than I can possibly read.
