A. Morning Musings

The Rumi poem for February 3 is very good. A great way to begin the day. It is too cold for much outdoor activity.

Moving the photos from 2007 to an external hard drive freed up almost 26 GB of space on my laptop. I have all of my files (documents plus photos) backed up on the external hard drive as well. I think I am ready to install OS 10.5 when the CD arrives (hopefully tomorrow). I am also expecting a couple of reverse loop modules for my model train layout and a new fountain pen nib for my Pelikan pen in the next few days.

B. Actual Learning Activities

8:40 am

I have been editing and organizing the photos that I found on an old firewire hard drive. Many of these are from 1998 and 2001-5. I have yet to find the photos from our trip to the Yukon.

10:0 PM

This has been a methodical day of going through old zip discs and seeing which ones might have some files on them. The surprise was when we found a iomega zip drive with a USB cable. This was in a large box that was full of old cables and wires. The rest of the box is now in our toxic waste box for pick up later this spring.

I have now gone through all of the zip discs once and thrown away about half of them. I still have 17 zip discs to have a closer look at. I also went through a number of back-up CDs. I found numerous files of photos from the early days of having a Mavica digital camera. I found the Yukon photos (twice) and have imported all of the photos into iPhoto from four CDs that appeared to be a form of zip back-up. This turned out to be much easier than I thought it would be, but there is still a lot of work to be done.
