It is -3 C with a high forecast of -1 C. Sunrise 8:06 Sunset 17:23 Hours of daylight: 9:17
12:25 PM
This is the first time this year when the number of minutes of daylight increased by 4. Although both the time of sunrise and sunset are rounded to the nearest minute, it is still true that the rate of increase is also increasing. This makes perfect sense when one considers that the earth's orbit is an ellipse and that we are now moving away from an apogee. But I had never thought of the effect on the rate at which the days lengthen (and shorten).
Today will be the warmest for awhile - a good day to get out and do some shopping. My planned activities are virtually the same as yesterday: a little reading, a little trains, a little revising.
Learning Category | Planned Activities for Today | Time |
---|---|---|
Literature | Continue reading "The Ripening Sun" by Patricia Atkinson | 1 hr |
Technology | Work on revisions to Ausweb paper | 2 hr |
Model Trains | Buy paint, electric turnouts (4); nail down track in Jasper | 2 hr |
Progress on both Model Trains and the Ausweb paper. I bought three turnouts and installed them on the Jasper layout. And the paper is nearing completion. We are on the final stages of editing it.
