A. Morning Musings

I have a cuppa scheduled for 9:30 this morning at The Ugly Mug.

I am still struggling to think clearly about the coming day. I have begun cooking a special soup mix (lentils and legumes) with turkey broth for lunch and dinner. I will walk to The Ugly Mug - that will take care of my walking for the day.

Of my list of 5 Learning items, I think that I would like to work on the Model Train Layout. I should be able to complete cleaning the mainline track that goes to Queenston, Prairie Dog, The Channon and Pine Ridge. I may have to make a few adjustments to the track to ensure that the joins between track pieces are snug and smooth. Then I can try my three phase test: first run diesel loco CN 6700 on the route, then run CN 6700 & 6708, and finally run a small train of 3 additional cars.

I am sure I will find time to begin reading "The Pillars of the Earth".

The remaining three items are failing to excite me at the moment. I will see how the day unfolds.

B. Actual Learning Activities

3:00 PM

The soup smells superb!

I have spent much of the afternoon working on the mainline track for my model train layout. I now have that working and am ready to think about next steps.

8:50 PM

I have reviewed most of my philosophy books and have created a web page in my Books web site that lists these and indicates which ones are at the top of my list to read. "A Year With Rumi" by Coleman Barks is an easy candidate. It involves only reading a page a day. Here is a quote from the January 2 selection: "... we are nothing in this many-mooded world of weather but a single brushstroke down ...". I am now up to date with these readings.
