A. Morning Musings

5:15 am

am

We have been in Australia for exactly one month. I have yet to open my calculus books and continue learning calculus. I am a bit surprised by this, but the month has been full of simply enjoying the moment - a higher priority.

We have a cappucino meeting set for 10 am at the Pelican 181 in Ballina, our favorite cappucino place. We are also hoping to hear from the cleaners about when they expect to do our carpets. C'est tout for today.

Immediate Description Time
Literature Continue reading "The Sound of One Hand Clapping" 2 hr
Drawing Try drawing my third caricature 1 hr
GO Play 2 games with Goban software (9x9) 1 hr

C. Actual Learning Activities

I have just completed by second game of GO using Goban. Now to set up a table that indicates my progress. I reduced the rating of White from 9 to 6 to see what would happen.

I had no difficulty winning the second game. I will try moving the rating up 1 and see if I can still win easily. I won this game but had to be much more careful. I made one major encursion into white territory and that was enough for the win. White has an initial sente of 6 which I have to overcome to actually win the game. The fourth game was also relatively easy. It feels good to be playing GO again.
