The coffee tastes good this morning. We plan to walk a short distance to the Blackboard at the Beach Cafe for breakfast this morning. We have had a couple of cappucinos there and they were very good. There is also a sign indicating they provide wireless internet, so I want to find out about the details of how that works.
Immediate | Description | Time |
---|---|---|
Mathematics | Read "Truth is Beauty" | 2 hr |
Literature | Continue reading "The Sound of One Hand Clapping" | 1 hr |
Technology | Look for chess playing software | 1 hr |
Drawing | Try drawing my second caricature | 1 hr |
We had a very nice breakfast at the Blackboard at the Beach Cafe. I asked a few questions about their internet service and then returned with my laptop. This worked very well. I was able to download some chess software for the Mac that meets my needs for displaying and solving chess problems.
I have also finished reading "Truth is Beauty", which I overall enjoyed. However I would like to actually see and understand the mathematics that Stewart mentions. This could actually become a focus for a program of study. I also think that I should return to Roger Penrose's "The Road to Reality".
I finally hooked up my iPod to the speakers and am now listening to some personal music while thinking about Stewart and symmetry.
Here is a diagram that summarizes the first 5 chapters of "Truth is Beauty".
