A. Morning Musings

5:00 am

dawn

First priority for this morning is to continue work on the birding database. I also need to add a few images to these web pages - that will take a couple of hours as well.

Immediate Description Time
Birding Update data base and iPhoto files 3 hr
Birding Birding walk to Lennox Head Heathland 2 hr
Literature "The Untouchable" by John Banville 2 hr
Drawing Try drawing my first caricature: a great white shark 1 hr
Technology Begin using HP scanner 1 hr

C. Actual Learning Activities

9:45 am

I have finally brought my birding database up to date. I must make sure that I do not fall behind again! We have seen 77 different birds since arriving in September. Our number of Australian lifers has risen from 152 to 171.

2:00 PM

We are back from a pleasant walk to the Lennox Head Heathland. We saw a number of Rainbow Bee-eaters, a few White-cheeked Honeyeaters, a pair of Red-browed Finchs (first time this trip), a Lewin's Honeyeater (first time this trip), a Red-backed Fairy-wren, and a pair of Brahminy Kites fighting for territory.

I am generally satisfied with the balance between Learning activities and Life (aka birding, beach walking).

I also tried my very first drawing with the materials I bought in Lismore earlier this week. Now to review how to scan this in with the HP PSC 1402 All-In-One Printer Scanner Copier that I last used 18 months ago with a PC laptop.

It is going to take a few cycles before I have the steps for the scanner down pat.
