Wang Xi-feng ("Peppercorn" Feng) (Mrs. Lian): [3, 6, 7, 8, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 21, 22] Wife of Jia Lian, a beautiful young woman (about 18 - 19 years old), who is responsible for much of the management of the Rong-guo mansion.

Jia Qin [23] A junior member of the Jia clan employed by the Rong-guo Jias to look after the little nuns from Prospect Garden.

Yuan-chun [3, 16, 18, 22, 23] daughter of Jia Zhen & Lady Wang, now a Royal Concubine.

Bao-yu. [3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 11, 14, 15, 16, 17, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23] The Stone.

Lin Dai-yu. [2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, 16, 17, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23] Young daughter of Lin Ru-hai. She received tutoring from Jai Yu-cun but now she is being brought up by the Jias of Rong-guo mansion.

Xi-feng arranges to have Jia Qin hired to look after the nuns that had provided the plays.

Yuan-chun decrees that the buildings and grounds built for her visit should now be occupied by Bao-yu and the young ladies of the Jia houshold [Bao-chai, Dai-yu, Ying-chun, Tan-chun, Xi-chun, Li Wan]

Tealeaf notices that Bao-yu is bored and gets him some risque books to read. Dai-yu notices these and ask to see them as well.
