Bao-yu. [3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 11, 14, 15, 16, 17, 19, 20] The Stone.

Lin Dai-yu. [2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, 16, 17, 19, 20] Young daughter of Lin Ru-hai. She received tutoring from Jai Yu-cun but now she is being brought up by the Jias of Rong-guo mansion.

Xue Bao-chai. [4, 5, 7, 8, 19, 20] Xue Pan's sister.

Aroma. [3, 6, 8, 9, 19, 20] A personal maid for Bao-yu.

Nannie Li. [20] Bao-yu's old wet nurse.

Musk. [20] One of Bao-yu's maids.

Patience. [6, 7, 11, 20] A maid, and principal confidant, of Mrs. Lian.[Wang Xi-feng]

Jia Huan. [20] Bao-yu's half-brother.

Shi Xiang-yun. [20] orphaned great-niece of Grandmother Jia.

Bao-yu, Dai-yu & Bao-chai overhear Nannie Li quarrelling with Aroma.

Bao-yu spends some time alone with Musk.

Jia Huan loses some money playing games with some of the maids and begins to cheat. Bao-chai helps to smooth matters over.

Xiang-yun arrives and Bao-chi takes Bao-yu's hand and pulls him after her to see her. Dai-yu becomes jealous.

New members of the Jia household continue to be introduced. Some of the normal jealousies among any family members are revealed.

I am glad that I am making these notes as it is helping me keep track of the large number of characters. It is easy to see when a new person is introduced rather than it being someone that I have forgotten.
