This web site is intended to provide a set of notes about the Literature that I read in 2006. The primary intent is NOT to provide a synopsis or summary of the book, but to provide a set of notes at the time I am reading the novel that will help me enjoy the novel more thoroughly than if I simply read it. This is what I have referred to elsewhere as Slow Reading. The act of creating the notes is what is important, much more than the product. It is this act that requires thought, as one must decide what to include and exclude. And such decisions rest on a deep understanding of what is important, what events are connected, and who the major protagonists are and the relationships among them. There is no attempt to provide an analysis of the story, or a critical review. Such activities may have value, but they are activities that occur after one has read the story, and as such hold little interest for me.
The 2006 Literature Index provides a list of all the fiction books that I purchase, and read, during the year. As such this index is the key portal to the notes.
