The final paper for this class asks you to create and carry out a project involving Grammar. Exactly what this project is depends on your interests and learning goals. Some examples could include:

In other words, the project is an unessay, except one that is graded summatively: you will be evaluated on

As with any unessay, this is a very open project. Since it is summatively graded, I recommend that you plan ahead and meet with me to discuss your project if you have any doubts about its relevance or appropriateness.

Minimum Requirements

  1. Projects can be in any medium
  2. The work involved should be roughly equivalent to that involved in writing a second year essay of around 10-12 pages (3000~4000 words).
  3. Submission is via Moodle: if your project is not in a format that can be ingested by Moodle (e.g. it is a physical object, or a file-type or size that Moodle does not accept), you must upload a document containing the required introductory and met-descriptive material (see [4] below) and indicating where the actual object or file is located (e.g. “I will be giving it to you in class”; “it is available on YouTube at this URL”, etc.). Please ensure that any passwords or permissions that I require to review the work are also provided or properly set.
  4. For every project, the following introductory and meta-descriptive material must be submitted via Moodle (if your project is a document that can be submitted to Moodle, this material should go in the same document at the beginning; if your project cannot be submitted directly to Moodle, this is the material you upload to Moodle):
    1. An AI declaration answering the following questions:
      1. Was AI used in the research or production of this work? (Yes/No)
      2. (If yes). Describe how AI was used in your research and/or production
      3. Do you have documentation of your use? If so what form does this take?
    2. A statement indicating your goals for the project (i.e. why you chose this project and format; what you hoped to achieve with your choice
    3. A statement indicating where you project can be found (if it isn’t attached).
