6:10 am It is +6 C at the moment. The forecast is for a high of + 25 C.
I have updated my web site and put tea in the pot. The tea seems to have the effect of dulling my appetite, which is good when I am trying to lose weight. I lost another 2 pounds yesterday which is not surprising given how steady I was working on the model train layout tables. My weight is now 189. I am aiming for 180 by the middle of November, which certainly seems realistic.
The weather has been gorgeous the last couple of days and is supposed to continue today. A good day for a trip to the mountains and for barbequeing a salmon. I have not worn a watch for a week and it hasn't been a problem. I still need to adapt to not realizing what day of the week it is. We should be able to seize the moment when the weather is fine and take advantage of it. We should also try to develop a habit of packing a picnic lunch for such outings. Cheese, cold meat and wine sounds good. Or a sandwich. Bring the ingredients and make it on site. Tomatoes, cucumbers, apples, oranges, mayonnaise, mustard, a small cutting board, corkscrew, and a few nuts. A thermos of coffee on cooler days. Two wine glasses on other days. There is no need to rough it. This should be a delightful meal. This is a good opportunity to play with some new ideas for sandwiches.
Another thought is to buy a seniors pass for skating. There used to be a noon hour weekday skate at the Sportsplex. I must look into this and see what the schedule is for free skating.
Coffee get together at 8:30 this morning. Not much of a plan.
I need to cut some plywood pieces for joiners to ensure that the edges of the table top sheets on the model train layout are all level and smooth. Cutting the pieces will only take a few minutes but attaching them may take the better part of an hour. I only have 4 days left on the free trial for my mind mapping software. I should purchase that today.

7:45 PM The weather was perfect so we took off for Waterton. We bought a 12 month pass to the National Parks and are now set for the next 12 months. By the time we arrived the wind was up, as it so often is at Waterton. We had are regular stop at Kilmorey Lodge for lunch and then went to see Cameron Falls. We were hoping to see an American Dipper at the falls and sure enough, there were a couple right in front of us. Many thanks to Larry and Mary Ann for bringing this to our attention a few years ago. We then drove up to Red Rock Canyon. We noticed a bird on the road and were able to take a number of photos of it. It was in no hurry to leave. A careful check of our books when we were back in Lethbridge indicate that it was a Ruffed Grouse (a new lifer). We then saw an Osprey near the park entrance and a Dark-eyed Junco on the edge of a gravel road just past the turnoff to the townsite. A Great Blue Heron and a Ring-billed Gull completed our bird watching. We saw a beautiful ram mountain sheep. a number of mule deer and a harem of elk complete with three bull elk. The fall color was spectacular. We arrived back in Lethbridge at 5 PM.

I think we will make this a regular operating procedure: when the weather is good, head for the hills. It is so nice to be able to do so.
