4:40 PM It only took 20 minutes to locate these images, transfer them to this web site, and add them to this page.

7:10 PM I continue reading Peter Singer's "The President of Good & Evil" (chap 3).

D. Reflection

The most obvious aspect of these reflections is their absence. I must turn this around.

I have begun reading on a number of different themes:

  • Philosophy: "The President of Good & Evil" by Peter Singer
  • History: "The Greek Achievement" by Charles Freeman
  • History: "Ideas" by Peter Watson
  • Literature: "The Diary of a Nobody" by George and Weddon Grossmith

as well as making a substantial commitment to "Calculus" by Larson et al.

However, with the exception of the last item, I am not pausing to make any notes. I must not let this slide.

In the case of "Ideas", I have completed the first four chapters, thus completing Part One: Lucy to Gilgamesh. Chapter 6 is specifically on early Greek ideas, and should dovetail with my reading of "The Greek Achievement". I have read the first 3 chapters of this book and am now up to about 800 BC.

Peter Singer's book is divided into two main parts. I will begin to make my notes for this book after I have completed reading Part One: Bush's America. I have now read chaps 1 - 3 of the five chapters in Part One.

I have just begun reading The Diary of a Nobody.

I have yet to add the 10 books I bought yesterday to my database, or to scan the covers for inclusion on this web site. I will leave that until tomorrow as I need the electrical outlet for the fan at the moment.

On the other hand, the last few weeks have been very enjoyable, as I illustrated with many images. There is a time for serious study and a time for reality and a time to be with good friends. Both are important. But study and reading can, and should, be scheduled around reality.

We had a very pleasant walk along the beach after dinner. Tomorrow is intended to be a "rest" day, before a quick trip to Brisbane for some k&k (koalas & kangaroos).
