Consist: 210048 boxcar, 524270 boxcar, 123411 gondola car, and 78213 caboose.
Route 1: Transcontinental West Coaldale West - Jasper - Black Diamond - Wild Rose - Coaldale East.
Comment: I have renumbered the turnouts in the Jasper District to reflect the change in the mainline route which will now be the inner mainline track around Jasper. This will avoid a small S curve in the route near turnouts 83 and 84 (using the new numbers). The route now passes through the following turnouts: 83, 82, 81, 65, 64, 63, 62, 61, 31, 21, 2, 1 (a total of 12). The red color indicates the turnouts under DCC cab control. I would like to have 62 - 65 also under DCC. Run #1: (CN 6700 alone) speed 5. Time through 4' section is 26 seconds. OK. Run #2: (CN 6700 alone) speed 10. Time through 4' section is 9 seconds. OK. Run #3: (CN 6700 alone) speed 15. Time through 4' section is 4 seconds. OK. Run #4: (CN 6700 alone) speed 20. Time through 4' section is 3 seconds. OK. Run #5 (CN 6700 alone) speed 25. Time through 4' section is 2.3 seconds. OK. Run #6 (CN 6700 + 5 cars) speed 5. Run #7 (CN 6700 + 5 cars) speed 10. Run #8 (CN 6700 + 5 cars) speed 15. Run #9 (CN 6700 + 5 cars) speed 15. Run #10 (CN 6700 + 5 cars) speed 15. Summary: Here is a table for the previous 10 runs.
All 5 of the runs with CN 6700 alone were fine. There were no derailments. This implies that I should keep my throttle in the 13 - 15 range when CN 6700 is travelling alone on the mainline, about 7 - 8 when in a yard, and 2 - 4 when switching. Much to my surprise, the numbers when pulling 5 cars were almost the same. All 5 runs were fine, there were no derailments, even when the throttle was set at 25 and the scale speed was close to 100 mph.
