Mathematics: I made 3 handwritten pages of notes about sections 1.1 & 1.2 from "Introduction to Linear Algebra". I feel that I have a good understanding of the dot product of two vectors and understand the relationship between this and the length of a vector. I also see how to obtain a unit vector corresponding to the orientation of a given vector. However I still to think a bit about the cosine formula and the Schwartz inequality.
I have spent most of the morning with my model train layout. I completed the switching list for Train 601 in Session 1. The switching itself presented no difficulties although the track in Black Diamond needs cleaning and maybe even some minor roadbed adjustment.
Here is a short list of next steps:
- I now need to run locomotive CN 7847, an RS-3 diesel, over the Black Diamond and resolve the small engine stalls.
- buy 4 AAA 1.2 volt rechargeable batteries for my handheld control.
- I need to read the manual and learn how to set a sequence of switches that will all change at the same time (one for the outer mainline and one for the inner mainline).
- I need to review the MRC website and see if I should have an update to my controller.
I have purchased 4 rechargeable batteries and installed them in my handheld cab. The initial reading was 5.0 v. I am now recharging them and should have the reading up to 5.6 (the maximum) shortly.
I have printed out the manual for the Prodigy Wireless and have read the section on programming a route of switches. This seems to be easy and straight forward. I will try it tomorrow.
I also have learned how to delete locomotives from the handheld cab (5 may be stored for later use). I will set this up tomorrow as well.
I found and am printing a "Tips & Tricks" document of 28 pages that describes the latest information on versions for the various MRC Prodigy products.
