We began our trip into Montana by stopping at St. Mary for breakfast. Huckleberry cream cheese on french toast. Delicious. Then on to the Road-to the Sun. We found out that they will close the road tomorrow for the season. There is still a lot of construction work to be done, but we can see that they have made good progress. This is truly one of the great routes through the Rockies. After we had come down the east side of the divide to Lake Macdonald we pulled in to see the Lodge and meet the requirements for a virtual geocache.

- GC9859 - Old McDonald had a Lake
This was the one cache that I had loaded into my Montana 600 for today's trip. It reinforced the delight I find in geocaching as it got me to focus on a spot that I had passed many times while travelling this road.
I took a few photos of the Lodge as well as the lake.
We even saw some of the famous Glacier tour buses (above).
My global total of geocache finds is now 1020.

We arrived in Missoula at 4:30 and quickly got ourselves settled in our motel. We were a little ragged as the temperature was in the low 80's (F!) for the last 4 hours. Fortunately there was a gourmet pizza place within 100 meters of the motel and a wine shop only another 100 meters away so we were soon recharged.
The tiny wine shop had a Reisling from the Mission Mountain Winery which is located in Dayton, Montana. We drove by this on the way here! I didn't see any vineyards, but this is 2011. It was not quite as good as the German Reislings we usually have, but it was really quite good. Who would have thunk it?! I continue to learn.
