The final game for the Stanley Cup is tonight. Then summer can officially begin.
Much of today will be devoted to shopping for food. The cupboards, and the fridge, are bare at the moment.
8:30 am History
I have finished reading "Picturing the Land" by Marylin J. McKay. This book exceeded my hopes when I bought it. It was a fantastic blend of Candian history and Candian art history. The book was printed on glossy heavy-weight paper, as a quality art book deserves, and the reproduction of the judiciously selected paintings enhanced the overall delight that I experienced while reading it.
It also is motivating me to begin reading three other books that I have on Tom Thomson and the Group of Seven. I now have the background to appreciate them. I am also fortunate to have bought them a few years ago, with the idea that I would eventually find the time to read them.
I also have a biography of Samuel de Champlain that I now want to read.
Here are the three titles:
- Tom Thomson (2002) by Dennis Reid (Ed.)
- The Group of Seven and Tom Thomson (2003) by David P. Silox
- Defiant Spirits (2010) by Ross King
- Champlain's Dream (2008) by David Hackett Fischer
Marylin McKay's book is the pebble that causes the ripples to spread out on the surface of the water.
9:00 PM
The Boston Bruins have defeated the Vancouver Canucks 4 - 0 to win the Stanley Cup. Much credit to them for a well-played series.
Tomorow Canada can wake up and find out what has been happening elsewhere during the last couple of months.
