Just saw the online descriptions of the riots in Vancouver following the loss of their team in the Stanley Cup final. Shocking, disgusting, discouraging, embarrassing.
11:30 am Technology
I started up my new Dell Inspiron laptop and installed the telus virus protection software. After it was installed I ran a scan of the entire computer and it discovered 1 virus and 10 spyware files which I then deleted. The scan took almost 2 hours to complete. Everything seemed to run okay but it took most of the morning.
I still need to learn how to configure the setttings so it can access a printer using bluetooth connectivity.
But I am now ready to begin updating my remaining Ship It! files so I can begin operating my model train layout.
[3:10 PM Addendum I have installed the necessary software for wireless connectivity to a printer and it works perfectly.]
6:30 PM History
I have begun reading "Champlain's Dream". I bought this book about 3 years ago when it was first published. I recall reading, but not the details, of another biography of Champlain written about 20 years ago. It is time for a refresher read. The book is not a novel, but a biography, and a very detailed one with comprehensive references to the historical record. There are 7 main sections and I have now read the first one, which describes Champlain's life before he begins his journeys to North America. Now the fun is about to begin.
9:30 PM Literature
I have picked up the science fiction novel I was reading before we left for Quebec.
This is an amazing novel. It extends the ideas of virtual reality to a whole new level while incorporating some of the latest ideas from modern cosmology and quantum physics.
