This was a continuation of yesterday's maintenance on 8 cars that I had pulled from the layout for poor operating characteristics such as derailing and uncoupling problems. Today I began by running a consist of all 8 cars that I worked on yesterday. There were still a few problems that needed attention but after a couple of hours I had 7 of the cars running without problems.
- UTLX 48238 tank car
- replaced wheels with Kadee 28" wheels (No. 524).
- GTW 77942 caboose
- replace wheels with Kadee 33" wheels (No. 920-21259).
- remounted many grab irons that had fallen off.
- GTW 516134 boxcar
- replace wheels with Kadee 33" wheels (No. 920-21259)
- CN 475822 boxcar
- seems okay, will test run it again
- SRLX 15287 reefer
- seems okay, will test run it again
- CN 539027 boxcar
- seems okay, will test run it again
- CN 665489 flat car
- seems okay, will test run it again
- records in Ship It! need to have a shipper and a consigner for this car.
One car, CN 507639 boxcar needs a new pin for attaching the truck to the frame.
I still need to update my Filemaker Pro database to reflect these activities.
