I have finished mounting the 2 control panels for the Coaldale Yard. All that remains for the part of the layout is to clean the tracks.

The current list of remaining items involves 4 separate activities and a total of 6 tasks.

• Scenery
  • Buy some spray adhesive.
  • Cut and mount three Instant Horizons sheets to the barriers.
• Prairie Rose
  • Buy and install one switch for the Prairie Rose section.
  • Complete laying and nailing down the track in the Prairie Rose section.
• Coaldale Yard
  • Clean all track in Coaldale Yard.
• Jasper Yard
  • Mount and wire one control panel (6 switches) for the Jasper Yard.

I have had a close look at the layout and realize that although I have a "workable" layout, there are still a number of additional activities that need attention before it is truly "operational".

• Jasper Yard
  • there are 6 switches that need to be wired to a control panel.
• Mainline behind Distillery Row
  • there are 4 switches that need to be wired for DCC control.
  • thus I need one more Digitrax D64 decoder.
• Scenery
  • There are a number of Instant Horizons sheets that I need to buy and install before this item is fully completed.
• Wiring
  • Some of the under-the-table wires should be shortened. They are a relic of my pre-DCC system and need to be tailored to the present layout.
• Table Edging
  • I should attach an 18" skirt around all of the table tops. This would give the layout a much more "finished" appearance.
• Interchange Track
  • I want to have a look at the siding track in Queenston and see if it makes sense to set up an Interchange Track. This would give the operational characteristics some additional features.

All of the remaining switches in Lone Pine, Queenston, Distillery Row and Prairie Dog are within each reach and could be handled manually. Some of these are mainline switches and probably should be set up with DCC control. Then I think I can program the entire mainline to set all of the switches at one time.

But the only item that is really affecting my operational status is the dirty track in the Coaldale Yard.

The track has been cleaned in the Coaldale Yard.

I have also mounted and connected the terminal strip that will hold the ground wires from each of the 6 switches in the Jasper Yard. All that is left to do is to connect a 3-strand wire from each switch to the control panel/terminal ground strip.
