I am beginning to realize that my routine for the summer will be different than that of the last few months. Outdoor activities and projects around the house will be taking up more of my time. I view this as a definite plus - the fresh air is good for me. But it is still too cool early in the morning for sitting outside with my first cup of coffee.
May and June are the months when the grass grows like crazy - particularly at the moment when we have had lots of rain and now the temperatures are beginning to warm up. There is rain forecast for this afternoon, so I will try to get the grass mowed later this morning after the dew evaporates.
Work on the bulletin board for the genealogical society is continuing. I made a mistake yesterday when I mounted the cork board - I forgot to nail the plastic underlay sheet to the frame. I will now try gluing this to the frame later this morning after it warms up. Then I plan to paint the wooden frame. This will take two coats of paint - I bought the paint yesterday. Then the final step will be to nail the frame to the bulletin board. This has taken much longer than I originally envisaged, but each step takes time.
Two other yard tasks that are needing attention are the staining of the wooden retaining walls in the rear yard and the sanding down and refinishing of our patio table as well as the four wooden chairs.

A very productive and satisfying day in the yard and the garage. I have attached the cork facing to the bulletin board and will begin painting tomorrow after the glue has had a chance to set. The lawn is mowed, a large section of creeping charlie weeds removed, and the patio cleaned of debris from the overhanging may tree. I even managed to find all of the parts for our Japanese style fountain and it is now working. I love the sound of the water falling into the bowl in the early hours of the morning. We even took a brief break at noon for a barbequed Mitchell's weiner. Delicious.
No Learning activities today, but that was not unexpected.
